The Geography Programme, School of Tribal Resource Management, KISS-DU A student seminar was organized a Students’ Seminar to observe World Nature Conversation Day on 28th July 2023. This year’s theme was “Forests and Livelihoods: Sustaining People and Planet”. Faculty Members, Research Scholars and Students of the School were present in the seminar.

At the outset, Dr. Arpana Premi Lina Oraon, Associate Professor, Geography Programme, KISS-DU welcomed all. She introduced the theme and gave tips on how to conserve Mother Nature for future generation and the importance of observing World Nature Conservation Day. The students spoke about the various aspects of the topic.

Students of Geography Programme – Dhani Murmu, shared her experience of how she used to practice the conservation of fresh water and explained the need for spreading awareness on the issue. Ratu Wadaka said that due to excess use of plastic our Mother Earth is facing land, soil, water and environmental pollution. So, we have to reduce, the uses of plastics. Basant Jani started his speech with the slogan “No life without mother and No birth without land”. He explained how to conserve our mother Earth. Uttam Majhi spoke that we have to focus on the misuses of natural resources. We get resources from nature and its free for all. We should not misuse the resources so that our future generation gets sufficient natural resources. Everyone should use the resources in a proper way. Lalita Tiaka spoke about her experience that how she motivated their villagers and peer groups to plant atleast one tree once in a lifetime.

In the end Dr. Oraon summarized the points and encouraged the students to spread awareness on conserving nature and not indulge in things which cause harm to the environment. She also proposed a formal vote of thanks.
