A Faculty Development Programme (FDP) was organised by the Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC),KISS Deemed to be University from 8th-16th May of 2023 in collaboration with Sambalpur University, GM university, Rama Devi Women’s University, Khallikote University and Kalahandi University. At the first session of the first day of the FDP Professor Deepak Kumar Behera, the Vice Chancellor of Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences Deemed to be University inaugurated the FDP and being the Chief Speaker initiated the programme. Throughout his lecture Dr. Behera threw light on how to be academically skilled and innovative in an institution of higher learning. He also talked about the student teacher relationship and the importance of students’ development. Professor Behera also threw light on how to rediscover one’s self and turn one’s weakness into strength and challenges into opportunities which was reallyveryinteresting, inspiring andeducative.

The second session of the Faculty Development Programme was chaired by Professor Dr. Ranjan Kumar Bal, Professor Emeritus, KISS Deemed to be University, Vice Chancellor, ASBM University. Dr Bal delivered his lecture on Curriculum Designing, Outcome based learning and Choice based credit System. In this regard Dr. Bal shared some valuable information about NEP 2020 and made the audience aware of the Credit system at different academy level. Dr.Bal also threw light on the importance of learning by doing approach and outcome based learning during his lecture. Dr. Prasanta Kumar Routaray, Registrar, KISS Deemed to be University delivered his talk on the importance of value based education in students’ life.

After the interactive session the Faculty Development Programme of 8thMay,2023 came to an end with the vote of thanks by Dr. Preetinanda Roy, Deputy Director, Admissions, KISS-DU

The overall activities of the Faculty Development Programme was coordinated by Dr. Chittaranjan Bhoi, Director, Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC), KISS Deemed to be University. While briefing about the objectives behind the FDP, Dr. Bhoi said that this programme has been curated in the light of the UGC guidelines mentioned in Gurudakshata.

Speaking on the second day of the Faculty Development Programme on 9th May 2023, Professor Dr. Brahmananda Satapathy, Professor Emeritus, KISS Deemed to be University, Former Chairman, P.G. Council, Utkal University inaugurated the FDP. Professor Satapathy delivered his lecture on Constitutional Values, Human Rights and Fundamental Duties. During his lecture Dr. Satapathy talked about the importance of secularism and democracy and how they don’t go together. Dr. Satapathy threw light on how social justice assumes more importance in India. While talking about the fundamental duties of the citizen he talks about “the right bearing and not duty bearing” attitude of the Indian citizens. Dr. Satapathy concluded his lecturer throwing light on the integrated value of Human Rights Fundamental Duties and Constitutional Values. Professor Dr. Jugal Kishore Mishra, Director, Internal Quality Assurance Cell(IQAC),KISS Deemed to be University shared his views on the constitutional rights and human values.

The second shift of the Faculty Development Programme was an interaction between the students and faculty members of the University. Some of the students are invited to the FDP and shared their views on teaching learning process. The faculty members also gave their valuable suggestions in resolving the doubts of the students.

After the interactive session, the Faculty Development Programme of 9th May,2023 came to an end with the vote of thanks by Dr. Sushree Mohanty, Assistant Professor, Anthropology Programme, School of Tribal Legal Studies and Tribal Rights, KISS-DU.

Professor Dr. Siba Prasad Adhikary, Professor Emeritus, KISS Deemed to be University, Former Vice Chancellor, F.M. University inaugurated the day three of the FDP. Professor Adhikary delivered his lecture on Professional Ethics and University Teachers. During his lecture Professor Adhikary talked about the importance of professional ethics for university teachers and how to execute the laws of the universities. Professor Adhikary also threw light on the academic administration in college and universities and service conditions as a teacher in higher education. Professor Adhikary also talked about the importance of research and publications in the career of university teachers. Professor Adhikary also talked about the goal of the universities in 21st century and the role of skill development in higher education. Dr. Adhikary concluded his lecturer throwing light on the duties of university teachers in bringing the universities to the world and the world to the university.

The second half of the Faculty Development Programme was chaired by Mr. Atul Nag, Associate Professor, K I S S D e e m e d t o b e University. Throughout his lecture Mr. Nag talks about the importance of MOOCs (Massive Online Open Courses).

Addressing the 6th day of the FDP, Professor Dr. Sanjay Kumar Satapathy, Vice Chancellor, Kalahandi University, inaugurated the FDP. Professor Satapathy delivered a lecture on Technology for Teaching University Students. Professor Satapathy initiated his talk focusing light on the importance of individuality. During, his lecture Professor Satapathy talked that no two persons are alike and so as their intelligence and thoughts. Technology can provide access to learning and material things can’t bring development if mind is not developed. Professor Satapathy also told that technology can be a means to an end but it can’t change the culture and can’t help developing culture. He concluded his speech saying that decision-making and ethical values are more important than technological values.

The second half of the Faculty Development Programme was chaired by Professor Dr. Gopal Krishna Panda, Professor Emeritus, KISS Deemed to be University, Former Professor, Utkal University. Professor Panda delivered his talk on Career Counselling for the Youth. In that context Professor Mohanty talked about career counselling and benefits of career counselling and how Indian students mostly rely on their family, teachers and media for their career counselling. To strengthen his views Dr. Panda cited the examples of Andre Agassi and Ramakant Achrekar.

Professor Mohanty concluded his talk by throwing lights on the importance of mentors in students’ life.

The Faculty Development Programme of 13th May,2023 came to an end with the vote of thanks by Dr. Rashmi Mohapatra, Dean, School of CIST, KISS Deemed to be University.

In a 9-day FDP, organized by the Human Resource Development Centre, the 7th day was graced by Professor Dr. Asoka Kumar Das, Professor Emeritus, KISS Deemed to be University, Vice Chairman, Odisha State Higher Education Council, and Former Vice Chancellor, Utkal University on 14th May 2023. Professor Das delivered his lecture on Future Higher Education Scenario in India in the context of NEP-2020. Professor Das initiated his talk focusing light on the paradigm shift in education. During his talk Professor Das threw light on the ancient system of Education in India, sustainable method of education and establishment of the oldest universities in India. Professor Das also stressed that national education must be connected to human life and must be lifelong. Literature, psychology and other field of studies which don’t connect Human life is a propositional fallacy. In his lecture Professor Das emphasized on the collaborative mode of teaching and concluded his talk by saying that excellence without connecting society is of no use. The aim of education should be how to become a member of a sustainable society.

In the second half of the Faculty Development Programme Professor Jatindra Kumar Nayak, Professor Emeritus, KISS Deemed to be University, and Former Professor, Utkal University spoke on Academic Integrity. In this context Professor underscored that academic integrity must be taken into consideration on some particular context. Academic Integrity doesn’t exist in the context of orality. Talking about the academic success, professor Nayak told that success is a relative term and it is hard to define success concretely. Professor Nayak concluded his lecture saying that equity, access and excellency should be the prime focus education system.

The Faculty Development Programme of 14th May,2023 came to concluded with the vote of thanks by Dr. Ratnakar Mohapatra, Dean, School of TCPE, KISS Deemed to be University.

The 8th day of the FDP was graced by Professor Dr. Bidhu Bhusan Mishra, Vice Chancellor, Sambalpur University, inaugurated the FDP. Professor Mishra delivered his lecture on Governance of Higher Educational Institutions: Issues and Challenges. Professor Mishra initiated his talk focusing light on the views of Mahatma Gandhi that Education is the basic tool for the development of universities and the reconstitution of the society. During his talk Professor Mishra threw light on the weakness and strength of the private and government universities. He also told that all-round development is possible only through ethics in education and the clear vision and mission of the universities. Professor Mishra also talked about how collaboration among the institutions helps in developing the outcome and success. Professor Mishra concluded his talk by saying that excellence without connecting society is of no use. The aim of education should be how to become a member of a sustainable society, he said.

The second session of the Faculty Development Programme was chaired by Professor Dr. Akhila Bihari Otta, Professor Emeritus, KISS Deemed to be University, Former Vice Chancellor, North Odisha University. Professor Otta delivered his talk on Strategic Planning through Collaboration and Alliances for overall Development. In that context Professor Otta told that development in all sphere is possible through collaboration and alliances despite of insufficiency of resources. During his talk Professor Otta threw light on the innovative research and multidisciplinary approach by the teachers. He also threw light on the importance of contribution, guidance and involvement of the Alumni of the universities. Professor Otto concluded his lecture emphasizing on the accomplishment of task for image building of the universities and colleges through collaboration.

The Faculty Development Programme of 15th May,2023 came to an end with the vote of thanks by Dr. Chittaranjan Bhoi, Director,Human Resource Development Centre( HRDC), KISS Deemed to be University
