Yoga is an ancient physical, mental and spiritual practice that originated in India. The word ‘yoga’ is derived from Sanskrit and means to join or to unite, symbolizing the union of body and consciousness. Practiced in many forms across the world, as both a sport and exercise, yoga also has a meditative and spiritual core in addition to physical exercise, which makes it a holistic approach to the body, soul and mind.

Recognizing its universal appeal, on 11 December 2014, the United Nations proclaimed 21 June as the International Day of Yoga by resolution 69/131. The International Day of Yoga aims to raise awareness worldwide of the many benefits of practicing yoga.

Here at KISS, many of our students practice yoga daily, and we were happy to take a moment to practice as a community on the occasion of the International Day of Yoga.
