Forty faculty members, forty research scholars and forty students, Deans, Directors, and other senior functionaries of the Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (Deemed to be University), led by the Honourable Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Deepak Kumar Behera, and the Registrar, Dr. Prashanta Kumar Routray, attended the Honourable Prime Minister’s interaction programme on the occasion of the grand finale of the G20 University Connect Programme on 26th September 2023.
These members were chosen to represent the University’s students, staff, and management at the online event.
Two parallel viewing areas were arranged: one in a conference hall and another in a classroom. Facilities for online interactions were kept ready in advance. The audience enjoyed the cultural programme presented at the start of the meeting and agreed with the critical message that it conveyed. The students (mostly first-generation learners, all from underprivileged communities), faculty members and management greeted the appearance of the Honourable Prime Minister warmly, with a standing ovation.

The audience enjoyed the recapitulation of the events of the G20 Summit. It recalled their participation in G20 and S20 meets held at the university and at our sister concern, Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (Deemed University). Students had previously found the Delhi declaration of great interest, and a round of applause greeted reference to it by the Honourable Prime Minister.
Since all of our students are from the Scheduled Tribes, and 60% of them are female, the reference to empowerment schemes for the underprivileged and Narishakti Vandan Adhiniyam was enthusiastically received by the students and the staff.
The points raised further in the honourable Prime Minister’s speech were recorded and remembered by the students, and the audience was glad to hear the account of the all-round development of India that the honourable Prime Minister presented. As the honourable Prime Minister suggested in his speech, the audience also pledged to participate in the cleanliness drive.

Towards the end of the speech, observant students also noted the presence of Shri Dharmendra Pradhan ji, Honourable Union Minister of Education. They were happy to see him, as he had kindly visited the university.
The honourable Prime Minister’s speech concluded amidst thunderous applause as the audience gave him another standing ovation. At the end of the speech, the students and faculty members returned to their classes. Er. Atul Nag coordinated the arrangements and thanked all the attendees after the event.
