The School of Tribal Resource Management (STRM), KISS-DU organized an Extra-Mural Talk on 11th April 2023 on Excellence In Institutional Ecosystem- Quality Vs Quantity to create awareness among the students on the concept of excellence in terms of educational institutions. Dr. Sampad Kumar Swain, Professor of Tourism Management, Pondicherry University. Professor Deepak Kumar Behera, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, KISS-DU, Professor Jagannath Lenka, Professor Emeritus, Dean of STRM Dr. Snigdharani Panda, faculty of the School of TRM, research scholars and students participated in the session.
Addressing the students, Dr. Swain highlighted the meaning of education and listed the activities needed to achieve excellence. He added that the students should focus on academics, sports, co-curricular and research to reach the pinnacle of excellence. Dr. Swain discussed the political, social, economic and socio-psychological factors that need addressing to reach Excellency. He presented his insight about the meaning of quality and benchmarking, where he referred to KISS-DU as an apt example of benchmarking in providing a unique education system. Speaking in the context of excellence for institutions, Dr. Swain stressed that there should be a perfect balance of quality and quantity that institutions must maintain to reach quality and excellence.
Professor Jagannath Lenka, Professor Emeritus (Economics), delivered the concluding remarks and proposed a Vote of Thanks to the speaker and the participants.
