The School of Tribal Resource Management, (STRM) KISS-DU organized a seminar ‘Impact of Union Budget-2023 on the Tribal Communities in India’ on 4th February 2023. The objective of the seminar was to educate the students on the schemes/provisions that tribal community can look for from the Budget-2023. Professor Sanjeeb Kumar Dey, Department of Commerce, Ravenshaw University, Cuttack and C.A. Raja Narayan Tripathy, CEO Tripathy & Co. Bhubaneswar were invited as the Resource Persons. Among others, the seminar was graced by Senior Functionaries of KISS-DU, Professor Deepak Kumar Behera, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor and Dr. Prashanta Kumar Routray, Registrar. The Dean Dr. Snigdharani Panda, Faculty Members, Research Scholars and Students from the School of Tribal Resource Management attended the seminar.

Dr. Dey highlighted about the provisions available for Tribal Community under Union Budget. He discussed each of the schemes weaved for indigenous community. Some of the key points of discussion were – the Ekalavya Model Residential Schools, Sickle Cell Anaemia, Scholarship Schemes and Employment Schemes. Further, he also focused on the provisions available for the PVTG’s. Speaking in turn, C.A Tripathy presented the overall highlights of the budgets and covered some other key points like PM Vikas Yojana and other specific employment opportunities that are available for the tribal communities under the Budget-2023. The deliberations were followed by a question-and-answer session wherein the students interacted with the esteemed speakers.

The Concluding Remarks and Vote of Thanks was presented by Professors in Commerce, Professor. R.N. Swain, and Professor Jyotirmaya Mohanty, School of Tribal Resource Management, KISS-DU. The event was coordinated by Dr. Binita Nanda and Dr. Ch. Sudipta Kishore Nanda, Assistant Professors at the School of Tribal Resource Management, KISS-DU.
