The Research & Development Cell, Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) Deemed to be University organized an Online Training Session on Research Publication for research scholars on 5th March 2025 at the Ground Floor Conference Hall, KISS Campus-3. The programme was conducted with the objective of enhancing the knowledge and understanding of scholars regarding quality research publications and indexing platforms of international standards.

The training session witnessed enthusiastic participation from research scholars across various departments and disciplines. The programme aimed to guide scholars in understanding the importance of publishing research in reputed indexed journals and to familiarize them with internationally recognized publication databases such as Web of Science, Scopus, and PubMed.

The session commenced with a warm welcome address by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of KISS-DU, Professor Debasish Bandyopadhyay. In his address, he emphasized the growing significance of quality research publications in academic and professional development. He encouraged scholars to focus on ethical research practices, originality, and impactful publications that contribute meaningfully to society and academia. He also appreciated the initiative of the Research & Development Cell in organizing such capacity-building programmes for the research community.

The resource person for the session was Dr. Asha Premlata Omega Oraon, Assistant Professor, AIIMS Deoghar, who delivered an insightful and highly informative presentation on various aspects of research publication. During her session, she elaborately discussed the process of publishing research articles in reputed journals indexed in Web of Science, Scopus, and PubMed. She explained the significance of these indexing platforms in maintaining research quality, global visibility, citation impact, and academic credibility.

Dr. Asha also guided the scholars on identifying suitable journals for publication, understanding journal indexing, avoiding predatory journals, manuscript preparation, citation management, plagiarism issues, peer-review mechanisms, and ethical standards in publication practices. She highlighted the importance of selecting journals with appropriate impact factors and indexing status to enhance the academic recognition of research work.

The session provided practical insights into the structure of research articles, abstract writing, literature review preparation, referencing styles, and effective communication with journal editors and reviewers. The participants actively interacted with the resource person during the interactive session and clarified their queries related to publication procedures, indexing criteria, and publication ethics.

The programme was efficiently coordinated by Dr. Arpana Premi Lina Oraon, Director, Research & Development Cell, KISS-DU. Under her guidance and leadership, the training session was successfully organized and became highly beneficial for the research scholars. She emphasized the need for continuous academic training and capacity-building initiatives to strengthen the research ecosystem of the university.
