Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) Deemed to be University hosted an Online Awareness Session on Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and Deep Learning (DL), focusing on the PARAM Shavak DL System—an advanced supercomputing solution on 2nd May 2025. The session was part of Project SANKALP, a CSR initiative between KFinTech and KISS-DU, facilitated by HPC-Technologies, C-DAC Pune.

The event, organised by the School of Indigenous Knowledge Science and Technology (SIKST), the School of Comparative Indic Studies and Tribal Science (SCISTS), and the Centre for Indigenous Science and Technology (CIST), illustrates the University’s efforts to integrate AI-driven innovations with Indigenous knowledge systems.

Participants included members of the Research Advisory Council, faculty researchers in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Deep Learning and Research Scholars of the University.

Mr. Atul Nag, Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science, SIKST welcomed participants and introduced the keynote speaker, Saurabh Y. Deshkar, Project Engineer at C-DAC, Pune, who provided an overview of AI, ML, and DL and demonstrated PARAM Shavak. His presentation covered AI-driven applications in education, research, healthcare, environmental conservation, and social impact.

Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Professor Debasish Bandyopadhyay and the esteemed Registrar, Dr. Prashanta Kumar Routray endorsed the event, stating that PARAM Shavak will serve as a valuable resource for science and technology at KISS-DU. Their statements supported the institution’s goal of utilizing AI for academic and community development.

The session concluded with a summary of key points and an acknowledgement of shared insights. This marks the beginning of AI adoption at KISS-DU, opening opportunities for future research collaborations, interdisciplinary learning, and technological advancements.
