On March 28, 2025, a distinguished invited lecture on the topic “Significance of Millets for Healthy Life” was organized by the Home Science Department under the School of Tribal Heritage and Tribal Indology at KISS Deemed to be University, Bhubaneswar. The event took place at Conference Hall-2 (Second Floor), KISS Campus – 3, and featured Dr. Jyotirmayee Udgata, a renowned expert in Agro-Technology and Nutritional Gardening, as the speaker.
Dr. Sujata Acharya, Dean (STHTI), along with faculty members, research scholars, and postgraduate students, attended the lecture. Dr. Udgata elaborated on the nutritional benefits of millets, providing valuable insights into food chain management, productivity and production, nutritional security, hidden hunger, and glycaemic index. She also highlighted the significance of millet consumption, absorption, and metabolic processes, addressing the challenge of enhancing their aroma, a topic currently under research.
The event concluded with an engaging Q&A session, where attendees explored the topic further through thought-provoking discussions. Overall, the lecture offered a comprehensive understanding of millets as a superfood and was highly appreciated by the audience.
