The Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) Deemed to be University (KISS-DU) received the prestigious International Higher Education Excellence Award – 2025 during International Right to Information Day and Conference by the RTI Institute of India on 28th September 2025. Dr. Prashanta Kumar Routray, Registrar, KISS-DU represented the University and received the award on behalf of Hon’ble Founder KISS & KIIT, Dr. Achyuta Samanta at India International Centre, New Delhi.
KISS-DU has been actively aligning its academic vision with the National Education Policy – 2020, with particular focus on internationalization and quality enhancement in higher education. It approaches towards internationalization includes commitment to global engagement and inclusive education. Some of its major initiatives include academic and research collaboration, technology-driven outreach, and university consortium. The University has inked strategic MoUs with foreign HEIs from across the globe and has strengthened its international presence. With ERASMUS+ Projects funded by the European Union like the AURORA Project (a capacity building project focusing on inclusive education, gender equality and active citizenship) and KA-171 Mobility Project for staff and students, KISS-DU has created a niche for itself. Furthermore, KISS organizes India Trek Programme, a flagship initiative wherein international delegates are hosted from premier institutions like Harvard and CUNY to encourage international interactions, offer global perspective, blended learning, and cultural exchanges.
In an endeavour to enhance quality initiatives the University has performed exceptionally well in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2025. KISS-DU’s entry into the THE Impact Rankings 2025, globally in the following categories – Overall 1001-1500 Rank globally and 50th in India, SDG 5: Gender Equality: Ranked 101–200 globally (6th in India), SDG 1 – No Poverty: Ranked 301–400 globally, SDG 4 – Quality Education: Ranked 401–600 globally and SDG 10 – Reduced Inequalities: Ranked 801–1000 globally is a testament of its dedication towards addressing the Sustainable Development Goals. KISS-DU has also earned a name for itself by showcasing phenomenal performance in Outcome Based Education, Mental Health and Well-being by R World Institutional Rankings, ranked All India Rank 40, All India Private Rank 27, and State Rank 3 among all Deemed Universities in Odisha, in the Indian Institutional Ranking Framework (IIRF) 2025 and ranked All India 51 among Pvt Universities in India by India Today University Rankings 2025.
