Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) Deemed to be University observed Odia New Year (Odia Naba Barsha), Maha Bisuba Sankranti (Pana Sankranti), and on 14th March 2023. The event was attended by the faculty members, students and scholars of the Odia Programme, School of Comparative Tribal Languages and Literatures, KISS-DU. Professor Bijayananda Singh, Chair Professor, Gopandhu Das Research Chair, KISS-DU was invited as the Chief Guest.
Professor Singh addressed the audience and talked about the significance behind observing such an important day and Dr. Nivedita Mohanty, Associate Professor also spoke on the occasion. Apart from the faculty members, students, and Ph.D. scholars also delivered speeches, highlighting the essence of the Odia New Year, Pana Sankranti. They emphasized the cultural and traditional aspects of these events and their importance in the Odia community.
Dr. Rasmita Tripathy, Associate Professor, and Dean of the School of Comparative Tribal Languages and Literatures, KISS-DU delivered the concluding remarks. While delivering the Vote of Thanks, she expressed her gratitude towards each and everyone whoc contributed in making the event a grand success.
