The Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) Deemed to Be University (KISS-DU) observed Earth Day 2026 on 22nd April 2026. This was organized by the School of Tribal Resource Management (STRM), KISS-DU. The event was conducted in alignment with the global theme “Our Power, Our Planet”, emphasizing the collective responsibility of individuals and communities in promoting sustainable practices and addressing climate change, hence catering to the Sustainable Development Goals especially goals 13 and 15.

The programme commenced with active participation from students and faculty members. The theme of the event highlighted the importance of renewable energy, environmental conservation, and community-driven action for a sustainable future.

As part of the celebration, the PG students of Geography Department presented an engaging  drama creatively depicting environmental challenges and the role of responsibility in safeguarding the planet. The performance was well-received and effectively conveyed the message of sustainability and climate awareness.

The event also featured insightful talks by distinguished faculty members, including Dr. Sanjeeta Devi, Dr. Shruti Sudha Mishra, and Dr. Anita Pareek, who elaborated on the significance of the Earth Day theme and encouraged students to adopt environmentally responsible practices in their daily lives. Dr. Monalisha Mishra, HoD, Geography emphasized the need for academic and community collaboration in addressing environmental issues. Students also actively participated by sharing their thoughts and perspectives on sustainability, climate change, and environmental protection. The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks.
