The post-graduate students of the Department of Geography, School of Tribal Resource Management, KISS-DU, participated in a five-day Practical Learning Session conducted at the Civil Engineering Department Laboratory, KIIT Deemed to be University, from 8th December 2025 to 12th December 2025. The programme was organised under the guidance of Dr. Monalisha Mishra, and Mrs. Saurava Goswami with the valuable support of Dr. D. K. Bera (Dean), Mr. B. K. Dora, and Mrs. Elora Choudhury of KIIT-DU.

The primary objective of the session was to enhance students’ capacity in various technical aspects while providing them with practical, hands-on training and experiential learning opportunities.

The session provided hands-on training in survey techniques using instruments such as the Chain Survey, Compass, Theodolite, Levelling, and Auto-levelling. Students engaged enthusiastically, asking insightful questions and demonstrating a strong curiosity to learn the instruments and its applications. The programme seamlessly blended theoretical knowledge delivered by KISS faculty with practical demonstrations facilitated by faculty from KIIT-DU.

This interdisciplinary approach not only enriched the students’ understanding of survey methodologies but also enhanced their technical proficiency. It provided them with essential skills for field-based geographic research and prepared them for future professional roles in surveying and Geospatial Studies.
