KISS solemnly observed Santal Hul Divas on 30th June 2025 to commemorate the historic tribal uprising of 1855. On this special occasion, the statue of tribal freedom fighters was garlanded by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Professor Debashis Bandyopadhyay, and the Registrar, Dr. Prashanta Kumar Routray in presence of faculty members and research scholars.

The garlanding ceremony was followed by an interaction programme with India Trek delegates from the University of Montana, USA, at the MTBMLE Language Lab. During this session, all faculty members and scholars interacted with the delegation, introducing them to the Ol Chiki script and the cultural significance of the Santali language.

After the interaction, faculty and scholars delivered speeches on the Santal Hul (Santal Rebellion), highlighting its historical and socio-political importance. The programme concluded with the plantation of Saal trees symbolizing growth, resistance, and sustainability.
