Encourage applications by women in subjects where they are underrepresented. Through university outreach or through collaboration with other universities, community groups, government or NGOs in regional or national campaigns.
KISS-DU is committed to encouraging more women to apply for subjects where they are underrepresented (especially Indigenous women), particularly in fields like STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), business, and vocational training. To achieve this, KISS-DU takes a multi-faceted approach that includes both direct outreach and strategic collaborations.
- Women Faculty members and research Scholars are encouraged and provided special mentoring and financial support to undergo research related STEM.
- University outreach: KISS-DU engages in targeted outreach initiatives aimed at schools and communities, promoting awareness of the opportunities available in fields where women are traditionally less represented. Through workshops, career fairs, and awareness campaigns, KISS-DU actively works to inspire young women to pursue academic paths in these areas, emphasizing the potential for success and empowerment.
- Collaboration with universities, community Groups, Government, and NGOs: KISS-DU also partners with other universities, community organizations, government agencies, and NGOs for activities and programmes that promote women’s participation in underrepresented fields. These collaborations often include scholarship programs, mentorship opportunities, internships, etc., helping to remove barriers to entry and create a supportive ecosystem for women pursuing these disciplines.
