Systematically measure and track women’s application rate, acceptance or entry rate.

At KISS-DU, tracking access measures is a critical component of the strategy to promote gender equity in education. The institution systematically monitors and evaluates the application, acceptance, and entry rates of women, particularly first-generation Indigenous female students, to ensure that they are not only gaining access to education but also receiving the necessary support for holistic development.

By tracking the number of women applying to KISS, as well as their acceptance and entry rates, the institution can identify trends and barriers that may affect female students’ participation in higher education. For example, if there is a disparity in the acceptance rates or if women face unique challenges in the application process, KISS-DU takes targeted steps to address these issues, whether by offering additional support for applications, providing scholarships, or ensuring that the admissions process is transparent and accessible to all. Furthermore, systematic tracking of these metrics enables KISS-DU to assess the effectiveness of its outreach and support programs, such as mentoring, orientation, and career guidance, which aim to help women not only enter but also succeed in higher education. By continuously measuring these access measures, KISS-DU can ensure that it is meeting its goal of creating an inclusive and equitable educational environment where women, especially from first-generation and marginalized backgrounds, can have equal opportunities to succeed.

This has ensured around 58% of the student population are females.

Female students are mentored by female staff.
