- Inclusive Admission Policy: As per Clause 24 of Memorandum of Association of the University, ‘Institution Deemed to be University open to all’. Sub Clause 1- The institution Deemed to be University shall be open to the persons of all genders and of whatever caste, creed, race or class, and it shall not be lawful for the institution deemed to be University to adopt or impose on any person, any test whatsoever of religious belief or profession in order to entitle him or her to be appointed as a faculty member of the institution deemed to be University or to hold any other office therein or to be admitted as a student in the institution deemed to be University or to graduate there at or to enjoy or exercise any privilege thereof: Provided that nothing in this section shall be deemed to prevent the institution Deemed to be University from making special provision for the employment or admission of women, persons with disabilities, or of persons belonging to the weaker section of the society and, in particular, of the Scheduled Castes, the Scheduled Tribes and the other socially and educationally backward classes of citizens. In the year 2024, 2681 undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral students benefited under the KISS-DU Freeship Policy, reflecting the institutional commitment to enabling access without any financial burden.
- Additionally, the university facilitates Post-Matric Scholarships, National Fellowship for Higher Education of ST Students from Ministry of Tribal Affairs, National Scholarship Portal and Sankalp Research fellowship by KFintech etc to further support students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. As a result, the proportion of students receiving financial aid due to poverty is effectively 100%, making KISS-DU a rare example of fully subsidized higher education for low-income tribal students.
- Post-Matric Scholarship: Post-Matric Scholarship for ST/SC/OBC/SEBC/EBC Communities, Odisha is being offered by ST & SC Development and Minorities & Other Backward Classes Welfare Department, Government of Odisha for SC, ST, OBC, EBC, and SEBC community students studying at the post-matriculation level. The selected scholars will receive financial assistance. To be eligible, an applicant must:- be a permanent resident of Odisha, belong to the ST/SC/OBC/SEBC/EBC category, be studying at the post-matric level , have secured a minimum of 50% marks in the previous examination (For EBC/OBC/SEBC category student) and have an annual family income of less than ₹2,50,000; Scholarship amount : 12,000 Per year

- Umbrella Scheme for Education of ST Children – Post Matric Scholarship (PMS) For ST Students-Tripura (Scholarship Amount UG- 30,000 per year, PG-38,000 per year)
- Post Matric Scholarship To ST Students – Mizoram: Post-Matric Scholarship for Scheduled Tribes Students: The objective of the scheme is to provide financial assistance to students belonging to Scheduled Tribes pursuing Post-Matriculation recognized courses in recognized institutions. The scheme covers professional/ technical as well as non-professional and non-technical courses at various levels and also correspondence courses including distance and continuing education. The scheme is 90:10 funding from the Ministry of Tribal Affairs and Mizoram state. Scholarship Amount: Rs 21,700 per year.
- Central Sector Scheme of Scholarships for College and University Students: The scholarships are awarded by the Ministry of Education, Government of India on the basis of results of Higher Secondary / Class XII Board Examination. A maximum of 82,000 fresh scholarships per annum are provided for pursuing graduate / postgraduate degree in colleges and universities and for professional courses, such as Medical, Engineering etc. Scholarship amount : Rs. 12,000 Per year

- The scheme “Vyasakabi Fakir Mohan Bhasabruti Scholarship” is a Scholarship Scheme by the Higher Education Department, Government of Odisha. The objective of the scheme is the promotion of Odia Language by way of encouraging meritorious students to take up higher studies in Odia Language at U.G. and P.G. level. This is a one time scholarship of 20,000/- per student; awarded every year for Students studying U.G with Odia Honours and P.G in Odia respectively.

- Fellowships:
- National Fellowship for Higher Education of ST Students from Ministry of Tribal Affairs: This is a Central Sector Scheme of Ministry of Tribal Affairs and every year 750 fresh ST students are given fellowship for pursuing M.Phil. (only in Psychiatric Social Work/ M.Phil. in Clinical Psychology), Integrated M.Phil.+ Ph.D. and Ph. D. Courses. Scholarship Amount Rs 28,000 per month.
- UGC JRF: UGC JRF stands for the Junior Research Fellowship awarded by the University Grants Commission (UGC) to candidates who qualify for the National Eligibility Test-Junior Research Fellowship (NET-JRF). It is a research fellowship that provides financial assistance for postgraduate students to pursue advanced studies and research leading to an M.Phil. or Ph.D. degree.
- Sankalp Research fellowship by KFintech: Scholarship provided under CSR project of KFintech and is provided for Ph.D Students only; Scholarship amount : Rs. 20,000 per month for 5 months.

Vocational Training Centre at KISS-DU, links education with productivity, economic development and individual prosperity. In doing so, they ensure sustainable livelihoods. The course designs are based on chemical, appliqué, painting, food processing, tailoring, knitting, and drinking water. Vocational products included phenyl, hand wash, liquid detergent, tribal paintings, uniforms and handicraft from sabai grass. One-third of the surplus sales’ proceeds are given as incentives to students, under KISS’ innovative ‘Earn While you learn’ programme that provides supplementary income to students while encouraging them to study. - Tracking and Data Management: The university actively tracks and measures applications and admissions from these groups, with a special focus on indigenous communities, low-income students, and other indigenous sections of society. Additionally, KISS-DU upholds an inclusive policy that extends to women, differently-abled individuals, and other underrepresented groups. By continuously monitoring these demographics, the university ensures that its programs and outreach initiatives remain aligned with its mission of inclusivity and social justice. - The Admission Cell maintains a database of applications and admissions from different backgrounds, states, tribes and ethnic groups and the same is updated from time to time. Reports are also collected from mentors allotted to these students to counsel, understand their needs and aspirations. Information is also gathered from alumni from different places through a dedicated alumni cell. The university has conducted different need-based surveys in order to delve deep into the educational requirements and needs of the students from different backgrounds.

The institution has a clear policy of non-discrimination for transgender individuals, ensuring equal rights and opportunities in all aspects of academic, professional, and campus life. - Accessible facilities for people with disabilities
- The University addresses the design requirements of open spaces, recreational areas and pedestrian routes. Followings are the key features available in the campus: Parking with Wheelchair Accessibility, Ramps / Rails / Elevators, Accessible Seating Space, Signage indicating where Accessible Facilities are located, Wheelchair accessible Restroom facility, Corridors, Electric Vehicles are available for carrying disabled peoples around the campus, Special Toilets; Lift doors stay open longer, handrails flank both sides of staircases, and the chairs have grab handles. A hearing induction loop enables clearer communication for those using hearing aids, while Braille directions, tactile guidance and easy-to-read pictographs are available to help the visually impaired.
- The University currently has various different types of assistive technologies available for differently-abled students/staff/general public based on their disability. The assistive technologies include Recognition Software, Conversion Software, Assistive Listening Software, Visual/Audio Aids, Physical Mobility Aid using Green Vehicles, special accommodation, etc.

- Kalinga Fellowship: The Kalinga Fellowship is a systemic change societal leadership platform to facilitate a breakthrough in thinking and strategy on the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 5, that concerns gender equality and sex based trafficking. https://kiss.ac.in/kalinga-fellowship/ . KISS was instrumental in establishing this project in joint partnership with the BRIDGE Institute, Ashoka Foundation, FXB India, Prajwala, UN Women and the US Consulate Hyderabad. This global programme annually brings together the most progressive leaders from business, government and civil society to facilitate a breakthrough in thinking and strategy to answer a moot question: How can the senior leaders of the government, business sector and civil society come together to combat trafficking of women and children globally. 500+ fellows have been provided this fellowship till date.
- Workshop on Gender Equity and Inclusion: Transformative Pathways in Higher Education Organised by #WISCOMP is an initiative of the Foundation for Universal Responsibility and hosted by KIIT and KISS. Experts from the US and Indian colleges are facilitating discussion and internal consultation to envision and design institute specific templates to conduct Gender Audits as required by UGC guidelines and to ensure HEI preparedness on the implementation of #SPARSH (Sensitization, Prevention and Redressal of Sexual Harassment) policy of Government of India.

This interdisciplinary forum emphasized the importance of cultural inclusivity and leadership, highlighting the relevance of living cultures and traditions in a global context.
