Dr. Jashmi Hembram has become the fourth scholar from the Education Programme to complete a Ph.D. at KISS Deemed to be University, Bhubaneswar. Her research focused on “Higher Education of Tribal Girls in Mayurbhanj District of Odisha: Problems and Prospects.”

Dr. Hembram conducted her research under the guidance of Dr. Sujata Acharya, Associate Professor and Dean of the School of Tribal Heritage and Tribal Indology at KISS-DU. Her thesis was examined by Professor M.A. Khader, former Principal of RIE (NCERT) Bhubaneswar and Ajmer, and Curriculum Head at NCERT, New Delhi, along with Professor Prasanta Kumar Acharya from Rajiv Gandhi University, Arunachal Pradesh. Dr. Hembram successfully defended her thesis with Professor M.A. Khader and Professor Bana Bihari Mishra, VC Nominee.

Throughout her research, Dr. Hembram has aspired to be a change agent, promoting girls’ education within her community. She is a flag bearer of higher education, inspiring thousands of tribal girls.

Dr. Hembram has served as a Lecturer in Education at KISS College and as a Santali News Reader and Anchor on Kalinga TV. She hails from the Santal tribe in Pandupani village, Tiring block, Mayurbhanj district of Odisha. She has been associated with KISS since 2012 and previously worked as a Post Graduate Teacher (PGT) in Education at Fulamati Hembram Higher Secondary School, Padiabeda, under the Mass Education Department, Government of Odisha. She is a lecturer in education at Tarini Thakurani Mahavidyalaya, Ghatagaon, Kendujhar, under the Higher Education Department of the Government of Odisha. Additionally, Dr. Hembram was a Life Skills Education Peer Educator under the UNFPA Project.
