On September 21, 2024, the International Day of Peace was observed at KISS DU by the Sociology Programme, the School of Tribal Legal Studies and Tribal Rights, the Internal Quality Assurance Cell, in collaboration with the Center for Women’s Studies and the NSS Bureau. The event, held at 11 AM on Campus-4, centered around the theme “Cultivating a Culture of Peace.”

Dr. Harischandra Sahoo, Chair Professor of the Bhimabhoi Research Chair, and Dr. Tripura Mishra, Associate Professor at KISS DU, graced the occasion. Maitree Padhi, a sociology Faculty member, set the tone by outlining the program’s objectives. This was followed by a welcome address from Dr. Pragyan Mohanty, Dean and Center Head of the Center for Women’s Studies.

Dr. Sahoo highlighted the importance of the theme in his address, discussing the concepts of existentialism and humanism. He emphasized the three components of existentialism: Freedom, Choice, and Responsibility, and illustrated his points with examples, including Dr. Achyuta Samanta, the founder of KISS and KIIT.

Dr. Tripura Mishra spoke about the significance of inner peace, focusing on the conscious, subconscious, and superconscious mind. She led the participants in a meditation session and encouraged them to practice positive qualities in all aspects of life.

The event was also attended by other esteemed faculty members of KISS DU, including – Dr. Babita Das, Dr. Jhilli Mohapatra, Dr. Anindita Nayak, Mrs. Debahuti Pattanayak and Mr. Manoranjan Mohapatra

The program concluded with a vote of thanks from Mr. Manoranjan Mohapatra, Coordinating Program Officer of the NSS Bureau, KISS DU.
