National Service Scheme (NSS) Bureau, KISS Deemed to be University (KISS DU), organized a Plantation Programme on 17th September 2025 at KISS Campus-4. The event was held under the theme “Plant for Mother 2.0 (Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 2.0)”, inspired by the call of the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, to encourage people across the country to plant
trees as a tribute to Mother Earth and their own mothers.

The programme was graced by the presence of Faculties, Deans, the Principal of KISS, NSS Programme Officers, and NSS Volunteers, who actively participated in the plantation drive. Under this initiative, 100 saplings of various medicinal plants were planted at different locations within the KISS DU campus, marking a significant step toward creating a greener and healthier
environment.
The entire programme was coordinated by Dr. Parikshita Khatua, NSS Programme Coordinator, KISS DU, with the support of seven NSS Programme Officers of the NSS Units under the University. Their collective leadership ensured the smooth organization of the event and enthusiastic participation of the students.

The plantation initiative was not just an act of greenery expansion but also a symbolic gesture of love, care, and respect towards Mother Earth. The theme “Plant for Mother 2.0” emphasizes planting a tree in the name of one’s mother, underlining the nurturing bond between nature and humanity. It calls upon everyone to protect and conserve the environment as a legacy for future generations.

The NSS Volunteers of KISS DU played a pivotal role by preparing the plantation sites, arranging saplings, and raising awareness among their peers regarding environmental protection, medicinal plant values, and sustainability. They also pledged to look after the saplings planted, ensuring their healthy growth. This act reflected the true spirit of the NSS motto “Not Me, But You”, showcasing their dedication to social responsibility and community welfare.

The initiative further aligns with the university’s commitment to integrating academics with social action and contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those focusing on climate action, biodiversity, and sustainable communities. The event concluded with a collective pledge by the participants to continue tree plantation
drives in the future, thereby making KISS DU a model green and eco-conscious campus.
