The National Service Scheme (NSS) Bureau of Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (Deemed to be University), Bhubaneswar, organized the National Youth Day 2025 on January 12, 2025, to commemorate the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of 75 NSS volunteers and was held on the university campus. The theme for this year’s celebration was “Youth for a Sustainable Future: Shaping the Nation with Resilience and Responsibility.”
The program was graced by the presence of Mr. Manoranjan Mohapatra, Coordinating Programme Officer, NSS Bureau, KISS DU, Dr. Pariskhita Khatua, NSS Programme Officer, and Ms. Maitree Padhi, NSS Programme Officer. The event began with a tribute to Swami Vivekananda, paying homage to his ideals and teachings which continue to inspire generations of youth across the country.
In his speech, Mr. Manoranjan Mohapatra emphasized the vital role of youth in shaping a resilient and responsible nation. He urged the volunteers to live by the values of Swami Vivekananda, such as courage, discipline, and service. Quoting Swamiji’s words, “Arise, Awake and Stop not till the Goal is reached,” he encouraged students to contribute actively towards building a sustainable future.
Dr. Pariskhita Khatua elaborated on how the NSS platform nurtures socially responsible individuals. He emphasized that youth participation is key to achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 and sustainable development. He reminded the volunteers that true progress requires ethical leadership and a commitment to justice and equity.
Ms. Maitree Padhi focused on resilience as a cornerstone of youth identity. She highlighted the importance of taking responsibility in areas like education, environment, and governance, and stated that collective youth action can bring about significant societal transformation.
Several NSS volunteers shared their thoughts on the day’s theme, discussing their roles in promoting sustainability, social justice, digital literacy, and inclusive growth. They pledged to contribute to the nation’s development and work collectively towards realizing the goals of Viksit Bharat 2047. The Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) also actively participated in the event, showcasing innovative projects and encouraging students to think creatively about sustainable solutions.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks and the NSS clap, symbolizing unity and the energetic spirit of service. The National Youth Day 2025 celebration at KISS DU stood as a powerful reminder of the youth’s potential to lead India towards a brighter and more sustainable future.
