The Department of Odia, Visva Bharati, Santiniketan in collaboration with the Bhima Bhoi Research Chair, KISS Deemed to be University, Bhubaneswar jointly organized a lecture programme on 3rd May 2024. Prof. Harischandra Sahoo, Chair Professor Bhima Bhoi Research Chair, KISS-DU addressed the seminar on the title “Drusti O Darshanare Bhima Bhoi”. All students, research scholars, faculty members participated in the deliberations. In the discussion, the contribution of Bhima Bhoi, the saint-poet was highlighted. He was a great humanist and visionary. Odia literature is enriched by his works like bhajans, jananas and cautisas.
The meeting was presided over by Prof. Manoranjan Pradhan, Head Department of Odia and Principal, Bhasa Bhavana and eminent dignitaries Prof. Ananda Chandra Sahoo, Prof. Arun Ranjan Mishra and Prof. Bijayananda Singh were present in the seminar. Faculty members Dr. Sarat Kumar Jena, Dr. Rabindra Das, Dr. Pramila Patolia, Dr. Indramani Sahoo and Dr. Swapna Singh were present during the deliberations. Mr. Biswajit Mohanty, the seminar secretary gave a warm welcome address at the beginning followed by a Bhima Bhoi Bhajan.
