A Two-day workshop on “Writing Research Articles and Research Proposals” was jointly organized by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and the Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC) on 6th and 7th May 2024. The workshop was a resounding success, drawing together esteemed resource persons Ms. Bisakha Bhanja, Director of Programmes at the National Alliance for Women in Odisha and Former Country Head of Water Aid, and Professor. Swarnamayee Tripathy, Professor Emerita, KISS-DU and former professor of Political Science, Utkal University. The event was graced by the presence of senior functionaries of the university: Hon’ble Chancellor, KISS-DU, Shri. Satya S Tripathi, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Professor Deepak Kumar Behera and Dr. Prashanta Kumar Routray, Registrar, KISS-DU, and faculty members.

Speaking at the first Technical Session of the workshop, Ms Bisakha Bhanja gave insight on drafting project proposals. Further, she highlighted the list of potential agencies for project applications, thus facilitating participants in navigating the process successfully. Ms. Bhanja’s expertise illuminated the pathway for attendees, empowering them with the knowledge and resources necessary to confidently pursue their project goals. Professor Swarnamayee Tripathy graced the second technical session of the first day of the workshop. She stressed on composing research articles, important aspects such as formatting, introduction, citation, and subjective analysis. She emphasized the significance of these areas in the article writing process, providing attendees with valuable guidance on structuring and presenting their research effectively. Professor Tripathy’s session equipped participants with essential knowledge and skills, empowering them to navigate the complexities of research article writing with clarity and precision.

On the second day of the workshop, Professor Deepak Kumar Behera, Vice Chancellor of KISS- DU, shared his invaluable experiences and exposures gained through his journey as a researcher. He provided a clear and detailed explanation on the process of writing research articles for journals listed in SCOPUS and UGC Care. Emphasizing the importance of scholarly output, Professor Behera urged each faculty member to aim for publishing atleast three research articles annually. Additionally, he shared a list of website links to facilitate participants in contributing their articles. His guidance served as a valuable resource for enhancing the research productivity of the university’s faculty members.

The workshop proved to be an invaluable learning experience for all participants, offering insightful sessions and practical takeaways aimed at enhancing research writing skills. Ms. Bhanja and Professor Tripathy shared their expertise, guiding participants through the intricacies of crafting effective research articles and proposals.

Through interactive discussions, hands-on exercises, and expert guidance, participants gained a deeper understanding of the essential elements of research writing, including structuring, formatting, citation styles, and clarity of expression. The workshop fostered a collaborative environment where participants could exchange ideas, share experiences, and receive constructive feedback on their work.
