The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and the Centre for Indigenous Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIIE), KISS Deemed to be University jointly an international workshop on “Building a Sustainable Entrepreneurial Eco-System Strategies for Success” on 12th September 2025.

The occasion was graced by Professor Marc Alain Boucicault. He is a social entrepreneur and eco system builder. He has over 15 years of experience working in international development and entrepreneurship with the World Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank at MIT and with grassroots organizations focused on youth empowerment and entrepreneurship. He is passionate about leveraging the power of entrepreneurship, technology and communication to reshape socioeconomic dynamics. Professor Marc is also the founder of Banj, Haiti’s largest co-working space and entrepreneurship hub connecting various communities to promote innovation in Haiti and the Caribbean while supporting change-makers globally.

Addressing the Ph.D. Scholars, Post Graduate Students and Faculty Members, Professor Marc talked about the advantages of choosing entrepreneurship as a career option and the qualities needed to become a successful entrepreneur. “The aim of entrepreneurship is to solve a problem, not always profit. The Hon’ble Founder of KISS, KIIT and KIMS, Professor Achyuta Samanta is a social entrepreneur who created opportunities in order to solve a social problem”, he added while citing the example of KISS. He also gave examples of unsuccessful entrepreneurs as case study to infuse experiential learning. The second lap of the workshop was on strategies for building entrepreneurial ecosystem, wherein he shared the example of MIT, USA on how they have carried out research on entrepreneurship and have identified five key elements required for entrepreneurial ecosystem: Good Education; Good Government; Need to work with successful business people who know how things are done; Access to Capital and Access to incubators.

Dr. Snigdharani Panda, Director IQAC, KISS-DU proposed the Vote of Thanks. In her deliberation she highlighted the activities undertaken by the Centre for Indigenous Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIIE) and its contribution towards building a healthy entrepreneurial ecosystem at KISS-DU.
