The Department of Sanskrit, School of Comparative Tribal Languages and Literatures (SCTLL), KISS-DU organized an invited lecture on “Principles of Manuscriptology and Paleography” on 9th December 2025. Professor Subash Chandra Dash, Former Professor and Head, P.G Department of Sanskrit, Utkal University was invited as the esteemed speaker.
The session was presided over by Dr. Biraj Krushna Mishra, Assistant Professor and Head of the Department. The guest was introduced to the audience by Dr. Om Prakash Das, faculty in Sanskrit. In his welcome address, Dr. Chittaranjan Bhoi, Associate Professor of English and Dean, SCTLL, expressed his appreciation for such initiatives and for selecting an apt theme.
The keynote address was delivered by Professor Subash Chandra Dash, he highlighted the importance of manuscript collection, their scientific preservation, and the methods required to ensure accurate retrieval of these invaluable cultural records for future generations. His insights underscored the crucial role of manuscriptology and paleography in safeguarding India’s intellectual heritage.
The formal Vote of Thanks was offered by Dr. Gobinda Soren, Assistant Professor of Sanskrit , on behalf of the Department. The lecture proved to be an enriching experience, contributing meaningfully to the academic engagement of students and scholars of the university.
