The Department of Chemistry, School of Indigenous Knowledge, Science and Technology (SIKST), in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), KISS-DU successfully organized a Distinguished Invited Lecture on 11th August 2025 at Conference Hall-2, Administrative Building, Campus-3 on the theme “Manipulation on 2 D Materials for Sensors and Devices: An Overview of the Current Trends”. The lecture was delivered by Professor (Dr.) Ramesh Chandra, eminent scientist from the Institute Instrumentation Centre, IIT Roorkee.

The programme began with the Lighting of the Lamp, symbolizing the spread of knowledge and wisdom, followed by the felicitation of the guest. In his Welcome Address, Professor Debashis Bandyopadhyay, Vice Chancellor, KISS-DU, highlighted the pivotal role of advanced material research in fostering innovations in sensor technologies and electronic devices. He also proposed the establishment of an instrumentation laboratory at the KISS Deemed to be University campus under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Ramesh Chandra, IIT Roorkee.

Professor (Dr.) S.K.S. Parashar, KIIT-DU, addressed the gathering, underscoring the importance of collaborative research in nanoscience and materials engineering. He also urged students to develop expertise in instrumentation. Dr. Bikram Keshari Das, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry, KISS-DU, introduced the distinguished invited speaker, highlighting his outstanding contributions to the fields of instrumentation and materials science.

In his talk, Prof. Chandra provided an insightful overview of current trends in the manipulation of two-dimensional (2D) materials for sensors and devices. He elaborated on synthesis techniques, structural tuning, and the impact of nanoscale engineering on enhancing sensor performance, energy efficiency, and industrial applicability. The engaging session also covered future challenges and research directions, inspiring students and faculty to explore cutting-edge avenues in material science.

The event concluded a Vote of Thanks by Dr. Professor S.K.S Parashar, who expressed gratitude to the speaker, organizers, and participants for making the lecture a success. The programme was co-ordinated by Dr. Bikram Keshari Das and Dr. Tanushree Das, Department of Chemistry, SIKST, KISS-DU.
