The Orientation Programme for the newly inducted Gender Champions was held on 4th December 2025. The session aimed to strengthen the clarity and understanding of gender, gender-related issues, and the objectives of the UGC Gender Champions Initiative in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). All newly selected Gender Champions were present and actively participated in the programme.
The meeting commenced with a Welcome Address by Dr. Pragyan Mohanty, Dean and Coordinator, Gender Champions, KISS-DU. In her address, she highlighted the significance of the initiative and elaborated on the essential roles and responsibilities expected from the Gender Champions. She emphasized the need for sensitivity, awareness, and proactive engagement in promoting gender equality and fostering a safe, inclusive campus environment.
The resource person for the programme was Dr. Tripura Mishra, Chairperson, Gender Sensitization Committee. She delivered an insightful session on various gender-related challenges observed in university spaces and discussed how such issues often affect young minds. Dr. Mishra stressed the importance of early sensitization, responsible behavior, and the necessity of creating respectful academic and social environments. Her address provided the students with a deeper understanding of the complexities surrounding gender concerns and motivated them to contribute meaningfully to campus welfare.
The Orientation concluded with an interactive segment where students shared their perspectives and sought clarification on their duties as Gender Champions. The programme successfully instilled a sense of responsibility and commitment among the participants, marking a constructive beginning to their role in promoting gender equity within the institution.
