The School of Tribal Heritage and Tribal Indology (STHTI), KISS-DU organized an International Webinar on ‘Cyber Psychology: Tool for Classroom Management’ on 26th July 2024. Professor Dr. Vinnaras Nithyanantham, School of Education, DMI St. John the Baptist University, Mangochi, Malavi, South Africa was invited as the distinguished speaker.

At the outset, Dr. Manoj Kumar Behera, Dean and Associate Professor, STHTI delivered a brief presentation on the profile of the School and the various programmes offered under it. Dr. Sujata Acharya, Associate Professor and Head of Education Programme, STHTI welcomed and introduced Professor Nithyanantham by highlighting his contributions as a Professor of Education during his two decades of experience in teaching, research and innovation.

Professor Nithyanantham, in his presentation, focused on classroom interaction procedure, cyber psychology – the study of human behaviour through digital medium. He also focused on the etymological meaning of the word “cybernetics”. Further, he also stressed on practical uses of cyber psychology in basic human behavioural traits within society, solving problems in the field of education, employment and health. He opined that the origin of artificial intelligence has enlarged the field of cybernetics. Professor Nithyanantham concluded by highlighting the increase in use of social media users across the globe. The deliberation was followed by a question and answer session.

The session was summed up by Professor Namita Mohanty, Professor Emeritus, KISS-DU. She highlighted the problems of technological addiction and ways of detoxification of the mind. The webinar concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Guddi Saktinanda, Faculty, Education Programmes, STHTI.
