On 8th October 2024, 50 students from the Economics Programme, under the School of Tribal Resource Management, KISS- DU, undertook an insightful visit to Ananda Industrial Gases Private Ltd and Terrablock Machinery-A Unit of Ananda Industrial Gases Pvt. Ltd at Mancheswar. The objective of the visit was to provide students with practical insights into industrial operations and the economic principles that strengthen them.
Visit to Ananda Industrial Gases Pvt Ltd
The industry specializes in the production and supply of industrial gases including oxygen, nitrogen and argon. During the visit, students gained insights into the process of gas separation through fractional distillation and oxygen production which highlighted the technical aspects of gas production. They also explored the formation of anesthetic gases, such as nitrous oxide (laughing gas), and how these gases are supplied as per the local and national demand of the hospitals including KIMS. It emphasized the importance of understanding market trends and customer needs.
Visit to Terrablock Machinery
The visit aimed to provide insights into manufacturing processes & the role of machinery in economic development. Students got the idea about an innovative earthquake-resistant interlocking brick technology from the Terrablock Machinery industry and how it is useful to protect from earthquake. The company is exported the materials to Nepal, Ethiopia, Ghanna, Bhutan and Tanzania. The company’s contribution to local employment and its role in the supply chain of the construction industry were significant discussion points. Terrablock Machinery’s initiatives toward sustainable manufacturing were highlighted.
In a stimulating question and answer session, the Operations Manager allowed students to explore the challenges faced by the machinery industry, including competition and technological advancements. It provided students with valuable firsthand experience of industrial operations and their economic implications.
