On the occasion of Gopabandhu Jayanti, the Department of Odia, School of Comparative Tribal Languages and Literatures (SCTLL), KISS Deemed to be University, organized a Student Seminar on 9th October 2025 at 12 PM in Room No. 205, Campus 4. The event commemorated the birth anniversary of Utkalmani Pandit Gopabandhu Das, the great patriot, social reformer, and poet of Odisha.
The programme commenced with the inauguration of the Wall Magazine by Dr. Chittaranjan Bhoi, Dean, School of CTLL, in the presence of all the Heads of Departments of the School. The Wall Magazine, designed and presented by the students, highlighted the literary and humanitarian contributions of Utkalmani Gopabandhu Das and reflected the creative expressions of young learners.
Following the inauguration, Dr. Chittaranjan Bhoi, delivered the Welcome Address, expressing his admiration for the ideals and values of Gopabandhu Das and emphasizing their relevance in today’s education and society.
The seminar saw enthusiastic participation from the students and research scholars. Ph.D. Scholars of the School — Mr. Pradeep Kumar Naik and Ms. Koushalya Pattnaik — presented their views on the life and philosophy of Utkalmani and his contribution to the upliftment of society through education and literature. Ms. Umakanti, a P.G 2nd Year student, also addressed the gathering, sharing her reflections on UtkalmaniGopabandhu’s selfless service and his inspiration to the youth of Odisha.
The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks proposed by Dr. Rasmita Tripathy, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Odia, School of CTLL, KISS DU. She expressed her gratitude to all dignitaries, faculty members, and students for their active participation and contribution to making the event a success.The seminar not only paid tribute to the noble soul of Utkalmani Gopabandhu Das but also inspired the students to imbibe his values of service, sacrifice, and dedication toward society.
