The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), in collaboration with the Centre for Folklore Studies and the School of Comparative Tribal Languages and Literatures (SCTLL), KISS-DU jointly observed Bharatiya Bhasha Diwas on 11th December 2025, marking the concluding day of the Bharatiya Bhasha Utsav 2025 (December 4–11, 2025). The national theme for this year—“Many Languages, One Emotion” paid tribute to Mahakavi Subramania Bharati, eminent Tamil Poet and highlighted India’s linguistic unity and cultural harmony.

The celebration commenced with a warm welcome address by Dr. Chittaranjan Bhoi, Dean, SCTLL, who emphasized the significance of linguistic diversity and the responsibility of academic institutions in nurturing respect for India’s multilingual heritage. This was followed by a session on the significance of the day, delivered by, Dr. Rasmita Tripathy, Head of the Department of Odia. She elaborated on the purpose of Bharatiya Bhasha Diwas and highlighted its association with the birth anniversary of eminent Tamil Poet Mahakavi Subramania Bharati, noting his immense contributions to literature, nationalism, and linguistic pride.

The event saw enthusiastic participation from faculty members, research scholars, and students of the Departments of Odia, Hindi, Sanskrit, English, and Santali. Several speakers reflected on multilingualism, linguistic identity, cultural interconnectedness, and the need to strengthen Indian languages in academic and societal domains. Their deliberations resonated strongly with the year’s theme, underscoring the shared emotional foundation that unites India’s diverse languages.

Students also shared their experiences and thoughts, enriching the programme with youthful perspectives. The event concluded with a collective reaffirmation of the commitment to promoting and preserving India’s linguistic and cultural heritage.

The observance of Bharatiya Bhasha Diwas served as a meaningful platform to celebrate unity in diversity and to honour the enduring legacy of Mahakavi Subramania Bharati.
