The KISS Deemed to be University observed Vigilance Awareness Week starting from 27th October 2025 till 2nd November 20205, in alignment with the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC)’s mandate. The NSS Units of the seven innovative Schools under KISS Deemed to be University thoughtfully designed the daily activities keeping in mind this year’s theme “Vigilance: Our Shared Responsibility” and joined hands in this national mission.
This was organized to promote probity in public life and achieve a corruption-free society and maintaining transparency and creating greater sensitivity about the need for ethics in governance.
School of Tribal Legal Studies and Tribal Rights
The NSS Unit of the School of Tribal Legal Studies and Tribal Rights (STLSTR), KISS-DU observed Vigilance Awareness Week on 28th October 2025 under the guidance of Dr. Maitree Padhi. The event commenced with a formal inaugural session, which witnessed the gracious presence of eminent faculty members of the School. Among the dignitaries present were Dr. Pragyan Mohanty, Dean, School of Tribal Legal Studies and Tribal Rights; Dr. Manoranjan Mohapatra, Assistant Professor and Head, Department of Anthropology; Dr. Pabitra Kumar Das, Assistant Professor and Head, Department of Social Work; Dr. Sasmita Padhi, Assistant Professor, Department of Social Work; and Dr. Madhusmita Sahoo, Assistant Professor, Department of Anthropology.
The programme began with a brief introduction to the purpose and significance of Vigilance Awareness Week, highlighting the importance of integrity, transparency, and accountability in both personal and professional life. The NSS volunteers, Ph.D. scholars, and other students enthusiastically participated and delivered insightful speeches on the need for vigilance in society and the role of youth in combating corruption and unethical practices.
Following the student presentations, all the faculty members present shared their valuable views on the relevance of vigilance and collective responsibility in maintaining ethical governance and promoting moral values among the younger generation. Their speeches emphasized the importance of being vigilant citizens to ensure fairness, justice, and integrity in all walks of life.
An Integrity Pledge was then administered to all participants, reaffirming their commitment to uphold honesty and transparency in all their actions. This symbolic act reflected the collective determination of the institution’s community toward building a corruption-free society.
The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks proposed by Dr. Manoranjan Mohapatra, who expressed gratitude to all the faculty members, NSS volunteers, and students for their active participation and thoughtful contributions. He also acknowledged the efforts of Dr. Maitree Padhi for successfully organizing and coordinating the entire event.
The observance of Vigilance Awareness Week at KISS-DU served as an enlightening platform for students and faculty alike, fostering awareness about ethical conduct and the importance of vigilance as a shared civic responsibility.
School of Tribal Heritage and Tribal Indology
The NSS Unit of the School of Tribal Heritage and Tribal Indology organized a “Vigilance Rangoli Competition” for the NSS volunteers on 28th October 2025. All the NSS volunteers of the seven Schools participated in the competition. The NSS volunteers were very creative in picturing their ideas on vigilance awareness. It is hoped that the Vigilance awareness week celebration will have a deep impact on the tender minds of the volunteers and inspire them to be vigilant and aware citizens of the nation.
The primary purpose of the week was to sensitize the volunteers towards good governance by eradicating corruption.
School of Comparative Indic Studies and Tribal Science
The School of Comparative Indic Studies and Tribal Science (SCISTS), KISS-DU, Bhubaneswar, in collaboration with the NSS wings of KISS-DU, organized a Vigilance Awareness Program on October 29, 2025. The event aimed to sensitize students about the importance of integrity, transparency, and ethical conduct in building a corruption-free society.
Around 70 enthusiastic students participated in the program, which featured various interactive activities such as debate and quiz competitions designed to encourage youth engagement and awareness.
The event was graced by the presence of the NSS Coordinator, Dr. Parikhita Khatua; Dean of the School, Dr. Vimal Pandey; and Dr. R. K. Mishra visiting faculty, KISS-DU along with 12 faculty members of SCISTS, Dr. Manoranjan Mohapatra and Dr. Saloman Behera, who also serves as the NSS Program Officer of SCISTS, were actively involved in convening and coordinating the program. Four NSS members also attended the event to support and guide the participants.
Addressing the gathering, the dignitaries emphasized the crucial role of students in promoting vigilance, accountability, and ethical responsibility. They urged the young generation to uphold integrity and work collectively to foster transparency for the well-being of society.
The program concluded with positive feedback from participants who expressed their commitment to practicing honesty and vigilance in all spheres of life.
School of Comparative Tribal Languages and Literatures
The NSS Unit (Co-Unit of NSS Bureau, KISS-DU) of the School of Comparative Tribal Languages and Literatures joined hands in the observance of Vigilance Awareness Week on 1st November 2025 on the theme ‘Vigilance our shared Responsibility’.
The programme commenced with a NSS unit song followed by Integrity Pledge taken by 60 NSS volunteers and 17 faculty members including Dean of SCTLL, HOD of different departments , NSS Program Co-ordinator, and NSS program Officers creating an inspiring and unifying atmosphere. To observe Vigilance Awareness week NSS volunteers presented NUKKAD NATAK and FOLK SONG reflecting the spirit of integrity, transparency and accountability in public life.
The event was graced by the presence of Dr. Parikhsita khatua NSS Program Co-ordinator, Dr. Chittaranjan Bhoi, Director, HRDC and Dean SCTLL, NSS Programme Officers of different unit and Faculties members of different department. Dr. Chittaranjan Bhoi, Dr. Manoranjan Mohapatra and Dr. Maitri Padhi addressed the gathering and encouraged the students and volunteers to uphold the values of unity, integrity, and national service. Their motivational addresses inspired everyone to play an active role in promoting vigilance awareness and fighting against corruption. .
The entire programme was coordinated by Dr. Parikhsita Khatua, Programme Co-ordinator and organized by Dr. Jhunubala khuntia Program Officer , SCTLL CO- UNIT, NSS Bureau, KISS-DU, whose efficient guidance and planning ensured the smooth and successful conduct of the event which was followed by NSS CLAP.
Dr. Jhunubala khuntia, NSS Programme Officer, proposed a vote of thanks, extending gratitude to all dignitaries, faculty members, volunteers, and participants for their active involvement and contribution to the success of the programme.
The observance of Vigilance Awareness Week 2025 at KISS-DU reinforced the commitment to uphold integrity and transparency in public life. It provided a platform for individuals to come together and promote a culture of accountability.
School of Indigenous Knowledge, Science and Technology
The School of Indigenous Knowledge, Science and Technology (SIKST) organized a Poster Making Competition on 30th October 2025 to mark the observance of Vigilance Awareness Week, based on the theme “Vigilance: Our Shared Responsibility” (सतर्कता: हमारी साझा जिम्मेदारी).
The event was held at Campus-4, Ground Floor (Room No. 003) from 3:00 PM onwards. The program was graced by the presence of the NSS Co-ordinator Dr. Parikshita Khatua, Assistant Professor, Commerce, KISS-DU, former NSS Co-ordinator Dr. Amulya Ratna Nanda, Assistant Professor, Dept of Odia, School of CTLL, and all NSS Program Officers from various schools. All NSS volunteers of the School actively participated in the event with great enthusiasm and creativity.
Participants beautifully portrayed the importance of vigilance and integrity through their posters, spreading awareness about the need for collective responsibility in building a corruption-free society. The competition provided a platform for students to express their ideas artistically while reinforcing the values of honesty and transparency.
The event was organized by Dr. Gitanjali Biswal, NSS Program Officer, NSS Bureau, SIKST Co-Unit, and KISS-DU. The program concluded successfully with positive responses and active participation from students and staff members.
School of Tribal Resource Management
The Vigilance Awareness Week 2025 was observed on 1st November 2025 at the Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) Deemed to be University Bhubaneswar, organized by the School of Tribal Resource Management (STRM) under the guidance of Programme Officer Ms. Rudrashree Ramayan Sasmal. The program was graced by the presence of Programme Coordinator Dr. Parikshita Khatua and senior faculty members — Dr. Lizi Panda, Dr. Binita Nanda, Dr. Anita Parik, Mr. Soumya Ranjan Swain, Dr. Arpana Lina Oram, Dr. Manoranjan Mohapatra, Dr. Jhunubala Khuntia, and Dr. Saloman Behera.
As part of the observance, an Essay Competition and a Vigilance Oath-taking Ceremony were conducted to promote the values of integrity and transparency among students. The winners of the essay competition were awarded by Dr. Arpana Lina Oram, Dean, STRM, in recognition of their thoughtful contributions.
The program concluded with enthusiastic NSS claps and the slogan “Jai Hind”, creating a strong sense of patriotism and motivation among all present.
