The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), KISS Deemed to be University (KISS-DU) organized a roundtable discussion on “Implementation of NEP-2020 in Higher Education Institutions: Issues and Challenges” on 28th February 2025. The event featured esteemed Professors Emeriti of KISS-DU who delved into the core aspects of NEP 2020 and shared actionable strategies for its implementation. The first roundtable discussion was graced by Professor N. Nagaraju, Professor Asoka Kumar Das, Professor Siba Prasad Adhikary, Professor Padmaja Mishra and Professor Bana Bihari Mishra. The second session was graced by Professor Atanu Kumar Pati, Professor Jatindra Kumar Nayak, Professor Nirmal Chandra Das, Professor Sarat Chandra Panigrahi, Professor Raghunath Panda, Professor Jagannath Lenka and Professor Brahamnanda Satapathy.

Addressing the attendees virtually, Professor Deepak Kumar Behera, Vice Chancellor, KISS-DU, in his Welcome Address, highlighted ten pertinent points related to the various issues and challenges during the course of implementation of NEP–2020. He stressed on some of the major challenges like resistance to change, inadequate infrastructure, teacher training and capacity building, financial constraints, language barriers, curriculum overhaul, equity and inclusion, regulatory and governance challenges, quality assurance and accreditation and digital divide.

The erudite resource persons touched upon key aspects like community engagement, forming University consortia, leveraging technology in higher education into the curricula and integrating sports, NCC, NSS, and vocational education into the curricula. Discussions also focused on academia-industry collaborations, village and industry internships, research on Indian languages, credit transfer standardization, and the evolving landscape of assessments and exams. The session emphasized experiential learning, internationalization, and the rich heritage of Indian traditional knowledge systems.
