KISS Deemed to be University celebrated National Librarians’ Day on 12th August 2022 to commemorate the Birth Anniversary of Padmashri Dr. S.R. Rangannathan, the Father of Library Science in India. Dr. Rangannathan had dedicated his entire life for the development of Library and Library Professionals in India, hence leaving a rich legacy. Senior functionaries of KISS-DU, Principal, members of the Library Committee, faculty and students attended the programme.

Speaking on the occasion, Professor Deepak Kumar Behera, Vice-Chancellor, KISS-DU emphasized the dissemination of information through user awareness initiatives and highlighted the importance of connectivity of the user with the Library. He suggested the students read original books and to feel the essence of the book.

Dr. Prashanta Kumar Routray, Registrar, KISS-DU talked about the Library being user centric, so that the Library Resources are used to its maximum potential. Dr. Kanhu Charan Mahali, Director General, KISS-DU opined that the Library fosters knowledge to the society, and if anyone does not access that knowledge, then they will be closing the doors of knowledge themselves. Dr. Krupasindhu Nayak, Library In-Charge, KISS-DU described the available resources at the Library and advised to draw maximum benefits from the rich resources. Dr. Sujata Acharya, Principal, KISS Suggested a few innovative ideas to be implemented for value addition in the Library activities.

Mr. Rabin Kumar Khandayatray, Chief Librarian, KISS delivered a presentation on the purpose and importance of the National Librarians’ Day and the role of the librarians to help the user in many ways to upgrade their knowledge and skills. Mrs. Namita Raj, Librarian, KISS-DU coordinated the meeting and Mr. Kalandi Charan Swain, Assistant Chief Librarian, KISS-DU proposed a vote of thanks.
