In a two-day tour (7th and 8th November 2024) of KISS and KISS-DU Professor Robin Edward Gearing from the University of Houston delivered a distinguished invited lecture on “Informing suicide Prevention Pathways: Targeting ideation and Behaviour” on 7th November 2024. This lecture was organized by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell and School of Tribal Culture, Philosophy and Eco-spiritualism, in collaboration with Centre for Indigenous Cultural Heritage and Diversity and KISS Wellness Centre.  

On 8th November 2024, a special session on Writing Projects and Grants Applicants was organized by the faculty members as an initiative to build the capacity of the faculty members and to help them find their niche. Professor Gearing underscored on the fact that community-based topics tends to get more importance and while citing an example of potential partnership he added that balancing community and academics is a challenge. He explained the various types of grants and the specific writing need of each grant. Significance, innovation, approach, investigator and environment determine your score. He stressed on the fact that identification of significant gap or fundamental area is key to writing a good project. The same has to match your research questions and the applicant has to look for feasible methods to analyze and interpret the same, Professor Gearing added. He concluded that session by throwing light on the art of paragraph-designing and structure while applying for grants or projects.
