The School of Tribal Resource Management (STRM), KISS-DU produced another research scholar, Banshidhar Naik (2018-19 batch) who hails from the Bhuyan tribe of the Mayurbhanj district in Odisha. He completed his Ph.D. on the topic “Analysis of Healthcare Services in the Tribal Communities” under the supervision of Dr. Snigdharani Panda, dean, School of Tribal Resource Management for the academic year 2024.
Banshidhar’s educational journey began in KISS when he joined +2 Commerce in the year 2010 and moved on to pursue M.COM in 2017 in KIIT Deemed to be University. Upon complition he enrolled in Ph.D. Programme in KISS Deemed to be University with the desire to work on a topic which is close to his heart that is to improve healthcare services in tribal communities in Mayurbhanj. He desires to see enhanced access to essential medical care; improved health education; and culturally sensitive interventions. Dr. Naik in his research work has focussed on the various Government health policy and programmes available for tribal people and analyse its efficacy; health and hygine status of tribal people; available health infrastruture in the area and to delve deeper into the social barriers to healthcare services of tribal people.
On being engaged in one on one discussion, Dr. Banshidhar Naik replied that by addressing these factors he plans to promote the well-being of his community and endeavours to bring in meaninful improvements in health delivery in his district. For being able to contribute to his community, he gives the credit to Hon’ble Founder of KISS and KIIT for creating a platform for indigenous students and empowering and enabling them to be able to contribute to their communities.
