The Fourth Dr. Ambedkar Memorial Lecture was organised with great reverence at the Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) Deemed to be University campus on February 05, 2025. The event was organised by Dr. Ambedkar Chair (sponsored by Dr. Ambedkar Foundation, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Govt. of India), KISS-DU in collaboration with the IQAC, KISS-DU.
Professor Vijoy Shankar Sahay, Visiting Professor, KISS-DU and Editor-in-chief of ‘The Oriental Anthropologist’ (A Scopus Indexed Journal) delivered the Fourth Dr. Ambedkar Memorial Lecture with the title “Lesser Known Pangs of Babasaheb Dr. B.R. Ambedkar”. His thought-provoking address shed light on the lesser-known struggles and intellectual contributions of Dr. Ambedkar, inspiring students and scholars alike. The seminar concluded with a vote of thanks by Sri Satyaki Paul, Assistant Professor, DAC, KISS-DU.
As part of year-long celebrations under 75 Years of India’s Constitution, Dr. Ambedkar Chair (DAC) at KISS-DU also conducted a workshop on research writing and publication on February 6, 2025. The workshop, titled “How Do You Write a Good Research Paper and Get It Published in a Reputed Journal,” provided in-depth guidance on structuring high-quality research papers, choosing the right journals, and navigating the peer-review process. The session was designed to help scholars and faculty members enhance their academic writing skills and improve their chances of publishing in reputable journals. Further advancing research methodologies, a training programme on fieldwork theories and methodologies was conducted on February 8, 2025. The programme, titled “Fieldwork, Its Theories and Methodologies,” delved into the essential aspects of conducting field research, including data collection techniques, ethical considerations, and theoretical frameworks. Scholars and students gained practical insights into designing and executing field studies, particularly in the social sciences.
These events reaffirm KISS-DU’s dedication to fostering scholarly excellence and providing a dynamic platform for academic discourse to enable Babasaheb’s dream of Viksit Bharat. The Dr. Ambedkar Chair at KISS-DU upholds the values of critical thinking and research-driven education, empowering students and scholars to contribute meaningfully to academia and society.
