A 26-member student-faculty delegation from the City University of New York (CUNY), USA, visited KIIT and KISS from August 4 as part of the India Trek program and returned today, carrying sweet memories of their visit. The delegation comprised 20 students and 6 faculty members from CUNY.
The visit was organized under the ‘Achyuta Samanta India Initiative of CUNY.’ During their week-long stay, they toured various schools of KIIT and KISS, interacted with students and faculty, and gained insights into the diverse academic programs and ongoing activities at both institutions.
With this, over 200 students, faculty and officials from universities across the world have visited KIIT-KISS under the India Trek initiative’ during the last two years.
During their visit to KISS, the delegation from CUNY observed how education is bringing about a transformation in the lives of tribal children. They explored different departments of KISS and experienced the positive impact of education on the tribal community.
In a special interaction program before their departure, the delegation had a courtesy meeting with Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder of KIIT & KISS, and shared their experiences. Dr. Samanta felicitated the delegation on behalf of KIIT and KISS. Addressing the students, he advised them to strive to become good human beings, no matter where they are or what field they pursue in life.
Sharing their thoughts, the delegates said that while academic activities are being carried out at KIIT and KISS, the way students’ lives are being transformed makes it a truly unique experience. They also had the opportunity to visit Odisha’s heritage sites such as Puri and Konark. During their stay, they enjoyed wearing traditional Odia attire and relished authentic Odia cuisine.
As they departed, the delegation expressed that they were leaving with fond memories, especially of their experiences at KIIT and KISS. The state government had also provided security arrangements for the visiting team from the United States.
Earlier this year, a 40-member team from Harvard University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), US visited KIIT and KISS on a weeklong trip and a fruitful engagement with the students. Besides, a delegation from Oxford University in the UK visited KIIT on a weeklong trip.
Delegations from the University of Washington, Virginia Tech University and delegations from the State of Montana and other universities visited KIIT during this year under India Trek initiatives.
