A Career Awareness Programme was organised on 6th December 2025. The event was conducted by the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI), Bhubaneswar Chapter, in joint collaboration with the Department of Commerce, School of Tribal Resource Management (STRM) Centre for Indigenous Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIIE), and the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of KISS-DU.
The programme began with a Welcome Address delivered by Professor Kashi Nath Jena, Pro-Vice Chancellor, KISS-DU, who highlighted the relevance of professional education in shaping responsible and ethical corporate leaders. The first session was led by CMA Uttam Kumar Mohallik, Company Secretary and Corporate Educator, who introduced students to the dynamic role of Company Secretaries in today’s corporate sector. He discussed the growing importance of regulatory compliance, corporate governance, and the demand for skilled professionals in both industry and practice.
The next address was delivered by CS Nilakantha Samal Practicing Company Secretary associated, Partner, Sunita Jyotirmoy & Associates, Secretary, Bhubaneswar Chapter of EIRC of the ICSI. He provided an in-depth understanding of the practical aspects of the profession, including legal documentation, filings, advisory roles, and ethics. He also highlighted the diverse career opportunities available in consultancy, corporate houses, and independent practice. An interactive Question-and-Answer Session allowed students to seek clarification about the CS course structure, examinations, training requirements, and future career prospects. The resource persons responded with practical insights and real-life experiences.
The programme moved towards closure with Concluding Remarks by Dr. Snigdharani Panda, Chairperson Council of Deans and Director, IQAC, KISS-DU. She appreciated the speakers for their enriching contributions and motivated students to develop clarity and commitment in their academic and professional pursuits. A formal Vote of Thanks was proposed by Dr. Parikshita Khatua, Assistant Professor, HoD, Commerce, STRM, KISS-DU, expressing gratitude to the speakers, faculty members, organisers, and students for making the event successful.
The session was moderated smoothly by Dr. Anita Pareek, Assistant Professor, Commerce, STRM, KISS-DU. Overall, the programme provided valuable guidance on the career prospects in Company Secretaryship and inspired students to consider the field as a promising professional avenue.
