The Commerce Programme, School of Tribal Resource Management (STRM), KISS-DU organized Distinguished Invited Lecture on the topic “Commerce and Economic Development: Success Stories and Lessons Learned” on the occasion of World Commerce Day on 5th August 2024. The event was organized in collaboration with the Centre for Indigenous Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIIE), Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) and Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC).
The occasion was graced by the invited guest speakers, Professor Sukanta Kumar Baral, Dean, Faculty of Commerce and Management, Indira Gandhi National Tribal University, Amarkantak, Madhya Pradesh; Professor Padmaja Mishra, Professor Emerita, KISS-DU; Professor Jagannath Lenka, Professor Emeritus, KISS-DU and Mr. Satyajit Senapati, Motivational Speaker and Best Selling Author spoke on the various paraphernalia and presented their deep insights on the chosen theme. Each of the distinguished speakers, highlighted the importance of Commerce in day-to-day and opined that it is the life blood for economic growth of a country. Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Professor Deepak Kumar Behera, Registrar, Dr. Prashanta Kumar Routray and Dean of STRM, Dr. Snigdharani Panda shared their insights and knowledge with the gathering. The seminar wrapped up with an engaging Question/Answer session.
The erudite speakers unveiled the Wall Magazine made by the students containing the various nuances of the field of Commerce like Brands; Startups; Quality of a successful entrepreneur; Innovative Entrepreneurship; creative writing on Commerce as a subject; Images explaining Business Activity; Strategies for Online Marketing; Concept of Family Business; Budget; Human Resource Management and Digital Marketing.
The students showed a keen interest in the commercial sector, with many expressing their aspirations to contribute significantly to the growth and sustainability of businesses in the country. The entire seminar was coordinated by Dr. Ch. Sudipta Kishore Nanda, Assistant Professor, Commerce, along with the support of faculty members and research scholars of STRM.
