“Know TB, Fight TB, End TB — Together, We Can Build a TB-Free India.”
An awareness programme on “TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan” was jointly organised on 22nd August 2026 by the NSS Bureau, Red Cross Unit, and Rangers & Rovers Unit of KISS Deemed to be University with the objective of creating awareness among volunteers about Tuberculosis (TB), its symptoms, prevention, treatment, and the crucial role of the community in building a TB-free India.
The programme was graced by the Programme Coordinators and Programme Officers of the NSS Bureau, along with the In-charges of the Red Cross Unit and Rangers & Rovers Unit of KISS Deemed to be University. A total of 81 enthusiastic volunteers participated in the awareness programme, demonstrating their commitment towards public health and social responsibility.
Dr. Meera Das, Medical Officer, KISS, graced the occasion as the Resource Person. Addressing the volunteers, Dr. Das sensitised them about the importance of early identification and timely treatment of tuberculosis. She highlighted common symptoms such as persistent fever, continuous cough, loss of appetite, and other warning signs that should not be ignored. She emphasised that TB is preventable and curable and that timely diagnosis, proper medical care, and completion of the prescribed treatment are essential for successful recovery and prevention of further transmission. Dr. Das particularly highlighted the important role of young volunteers as responsible members of society. She encouraged them to become ambassadors of accurate health information in their families and communities. She urged the volunteers to help spread the right information about TB, dispel myths and misconceptions, reduce the stigma associated with the disease, encourage people to seek medical care without hesitation, and support the national vision of a TB-free India.
The interactive session made the programme more meaningful and engaging. The esteemed speaker patiently addressed the queries raised by the participants and clarified their doubts regarding TB, thereby enhancing their understanding and confidence to communicate correct information to others. Following the awareness session, a pledge for a TB-free India was administered, with the volunteers affirming their commitment to contributing to a healthier, TB-free society. The programme concluded with inspiring slogans on TB awareness and prevention, creating a strong sense of collective responsibility and determination among the participants.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the invited speaker, dignitaries, organisers, volunteers, and everyone who contributed to its successful conduct.The TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan awareness programme served as a powerful reminder that ending TB is not only a medical responsibility but also a collective social responsibility. Through awareness, empathy, timely action, and community participation, every volunteer can become an agent of change and contribute meaningfully towards the dream of a TB-free India.
