The Research & Development Cell of Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) Deemed to be University organized an “Ideathon through Painting Competition” on 19th August 2025 at Performing Arts room, KISS Campus-4, for the research scholars of the university. The event was conducted with the objective of promoting creativity, innovation and critical thinking through artistic expression among scholars.

The programme was organized under the theme “Research for Social Transformation: Ideas through Art.” The competition provided a unique platform for scholars to visually express their innovative ideas, research perspectives and solutions to various social challenges through paintings and creative illustrations.

A total of 50 research scholars from different disciplines actively participated in the competition with great enthusiasm and creativity. The participants beautifully portrayed themes related to sustainable development, tribal empowerment, education, environmental conservation, health, technology, women empowerment, social inclusion, and community development through their artwork.

The programme aimed to encourage interdisciplinary thinking and demonstrate how research ideas can be communicated beyond academic writing. Through colors, symbols, and artistic imagination, scholars transformed their research concepts into impactful visual representations that reflected originality, innovation, and social responsibility.

The event was inaugurated in the presence of Deans, faculty members, research supervisors, and Director, Research & Development Cell Dr. Arpana Premi Lina Oraon. During the inaugural session, the dignitaries appreciated the initiative and emphasized the importance of creativity and innovation in research activities. They encouraged scholars to think beyond conventional academic frameworks and explore innovative ways of presenting ideas for societal transformation. The paintings were evaluated by an expert panel based on creativity, relevance to the theme, innovation, clarity of concept, and artistic presentation. The judges highly appreciated the participants for their thoughtful ideas and artistic excellence.

The Ideathon through Painting Competition emerged as a vibrant and engaging platform for nurturing innovative thinking among research scholars. The programme successfully highlighted the integration of research, creativity, and social commitment, inspiring scholars to communicate their ideas in more meaningful and impactful ways.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Durjan Sabar, a research scholar of the university expressing sincere gratitude to all the participants, faculty members, judges, and supporting staff for their valuable contribution in making the programme a grand success.
