Mr. Atul Nag, Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science, School of Indigenous Knowledge Science and Technology and Assistant Director, IQAC, KISS-DU was invited as a resource person at the two-day National Conference on “Next Gen Life Science: Genes to Ecosystems” on 18th and 19th April 2026 organized by Khallikote Unitary University, Berhampur.

Addressing the gathering on the topic “In Silico Structural Characterization of Vacuolar NHX1 Transporters in Avicennia marina: Insights into Molecular Mechanisms of Salt Tolerance”. He opined that this research bridges the gap between fundamental structural biology and global sustainability. By decoding the molecular basis of salinity tolerance in Avicennia marina, it contributed to SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) and SDG 13 (Climate Action), providing the computational groundwork necessary to develop resilient agricultural systems for the vulnerable coastal communities of Odisha.

The conference featured distinguished speakers from premier institutions including Vidyasagar University, Berhampur University, Zoological Survey of India, OUAT, NCCS Pune, Visva‑Bharati University, Rajdhani College, OSPCB, KISS-DU, and Khallikote Unitary University. Across keynote addresses, invited talks and oral sessions, experts shared cutting‑edge insights spanning Biotechnology, Zoology, Ecology, Environmental Science, Computational Biology, Forestry, and Public Health.
