The School of Tribal Heritage and Tribal Indology (STHTI), National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit, KISS Deemed to be university, Bhubaneswar observed World Tuberculosis Day on 24th March 2026. An awareness programme was organized  to spread knowledge about TB and its prevention.

The programme began with a welcome address by the  NSS Programme Officer, Rudrashree Ramayan  Sasmal.  He highlighted the importance of this day and the global fight against TB. The School of Tribal Heritage and Tribal Indology NSS Volunteers actively participated in the event which centered around theme “Yes! We Can End TB.” “Led by Countries, Powered by People”.

The invited resource person, Dr. Mirabai Das, Medical Officer, KISS Hospital delivered an insightful session encouraging volunteers to actively engage in NSS activities. Awareness talks, interactive discussions, and motivational session were conducted, where volunteers also shared their experience, inspiring others to contribute meaningfully to society. An awareness talk was delivered to educate Volunteers about the causes, symptoms, and prevention of Tuberculosis. Emphasis was given on early diagnosis, proper treatment, and maintaining hygiene to prevent the spread of the disease.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, Dr. Hisi Soren, NSS Programme Officer, School of Tribal Heritage and Tribal Indology, encouraging everyone to contribute towards a TB-free society. The celebration was informative and helped in spreading awareness among NSS Volunteers and the community.

The programme concluded with the NSS clap, with enthusiastic participation from a large number of volunteers, making the event meaningful and successful.
