The School of Tribal Heritage and Tribal Indology (STHTl), celebrated the International Day of Forests on 21st March 2026 with great enthusiasm and participation from esteemed dignitaries, NSS Programme Officer, Department of Education Faculties, Dean of STHTI, and NSS Volunteers.

The program is being conducted for a student of NSS volunteers in order aware them of the universal human values and sensitize them about the significance of the same. Value education is a way to conceptualizing education that places the search for meaningfully and purpose at the heart of the educational process.

The theme for this year, “Protect Nature, Preserve Future “highlighted the indispensable role of forests  of the security. The event emphasized the significance of forests as biodiversity hotspots and essential sources of sustenance for communities worldwide.

The celebration commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Sujata Acharya, Dean STHTI set the tone for the event and underlining the importance of the occasion.

Dr. Hisi  Soren, delivered the Opening Remarks, highlighting the pivotal role of preserve future in forest conservation and sustainable management. She also emphasized the theme of International Forests Day 2026, stressing the urgent need to recognize forests as key contributors to global warming, protect nature and preserve future systems, climate resilience, and ecological balance,

The highlight of the event was the special Guest Lecture by Dr. Rubikanta Mishra , a distinguished  Environmental Scientist. Dr. R.K.  Mishra’s insightful talk was inspiring, reinforcing the crucial role of forests in ensuring  security and sustainability. He also stressed the importance of sustainable land use practices, forest conservation, water resource management, and climate change adaptation of conservation and sustainable development.

The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Rudrashree  Raman  Samal  NSS Programme Officer of STRM, This event proved to be extremely effective in raising awareness towards forest conservation and sustainable livelihood and in making the society understand the interrelationship between forest and  forest of Protect Nature  Preserve Future in the Society.

The programme concluded with the NSS clap, with enthusiastic participation from a large number of volunteers, making the event meaningful and successful.
