The Tribal Advisory Council, students from Ho community jointly organized Mage Porob on 16th February 2026.

Mage Porob is the principal festival of the Ho tribe of eastern India. Celebrated during the month of Mage Ponai, the festival is dedicated to Singbonga, the supreme deity in Ho cosmology. According to the Ho creation myth, Singbonga created Luku Bule (the Adi Father) and Luku Buli (the Adi Mother), regarded as the first man and woman on earth. The festival coincides with the harvest season and is observed as an expression of gratitude to the Creator for nature’s blessings and the gift of human life. Beyond its religious significance, Mage Porob symbolizes unity, harmony, and social bonding within the Ho community, reflecting the rich tribal traditions and cultural heritage of the region.

As part of its mission to protect, promote, and preserve tribal cultural heritage and diversity,  KISS Deemed to be University (KISS-DU). The celebration was marked by vibrant traditional dances, songs, and customary rituals that showcased the cultural richness of the Ho Indigenous community. The programme commenced with ritual offerings and prayers to honor Singbonga and to express gratitude for the harvest and nature’s abundance.

Through this meaningful celebration, KISS-DU reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing Indigenous traditions among the younger generation and strengthening awareness of tribal identity, values, and cultural continuity.
