Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS), Deemed to be University, observed National Youth Day on 12th January 2026 to commemorate of the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. The programme which was based on the theme “Youth – The Catalyst for Change” was organised by the Gender Champions initiative in collaboration with the Centre for Women’s Studies and the School of Tribal Legal Studies and Tribal Rights.
The event aimed to inspire and empower tribal youth, to recognize their role as agents of social change. Faculty members highlighted Swami Vivekananda’s teachings on self-discipline, character building, and youth leadership. An interactive discussion and debate session encouraged students from different programmes to express their views on the relevance of Vivekananda’s ideals, the role of indigenous youth, and contemporary social challenges.
Active participation from students made the programme vibrant and meaningful. The celebration successfully reinforced KISS-DU’s commitment to holistic, inclusive, and student-centric education, concluding with a renewed pledge by students to contribute positively to society.
