Dr. Rasmita Tripathy, an Associate Professor and Head of the Odia Department at KISS Deemed to be University, recently delivered an enlightening lecture titled “Safeguarding the Heritage of Classical Odia Language: Digitalisation, Research, and Revival” as a Resource Person at the two-day National Symposium on “Classical Languages of Bharat: A New Perspective.” Held on 11th and 12th March 2025 at Jaydev Bhawan, Bhubaneswar, this event was organized by the Centre of Excellence for Studies in Classical Odia, under the Central Institute of Indian Languages, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Government of India, to mark the celebration of Classical Odia Language Day.
In her insightful address, Dr. Tripathy emphasized the urgent need for preserving the linguistic and literary heritage of Classical Odia. She elaborated on the role of advanced digital archival techniques and meticulous philological research in safeguarding ancient Odia texts. Furthermore, she highlighted the importance of interdisciplinary approaches to facilitate semantic and syntactic analysis of classical texts, ensuring their accessibility for scholars and future generations. Her profound insights resonated deeply with the audience, contributing significantly to the symposium’s mission of exploring innovative methods for promoting and preserving India’s classical languages.
Dr. Tripathy also expressed her heartfelt appreciation for Prof. Achyuta Samanta, Hon’ble Founder of KIIT-KISS, for fostering opportunities that enable academicians to engage in impactful scholarly pursuits like this symposium.
