An inspiring extramural talk was delivered on 13th January 2025 by Professor Sajeev Varki, a renowned professor from the MUMA College of Business, University of South Florida, USA on the topic Social Entrepreneurship. The event was organized by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Centre for Indigenous Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIIE) and the School of Tribal Resource Management (STRM), KISS-DU.
The session commenced with a warm welcome note by Research Scholars Ms. Pinky Kharia, Ms. Priyanka Majhi and Mr. Gyanendra Dharua to the esteemed guest and dignitaries. The presence of Dr. Snigdharani Panda, Chairperson, Council of Deans and Centre Head (CIIE), Dr. Arpana Premi Lina Oraon, Dean, School of Tribal Resource Management, faculty members, research scholars, and students of STRM.
Professor Sajeev Varki captivated the audience with his insightful lecture on social entrepreneurship and actionable strategies for sustainable development. He emphasized the need for innovative approaches that integrate community welfare with entrepreneurial thinking. His thought-provoking ideas were particularly relevant to the tribal and Indigenous context of KISS, making the talk highly impactful. Professor Varki shared practical examples and global case studies, illustrating how social entrepreneurship can drive transformation in underserved communities. He praised the visionary leadership of Professor Achyuta Samanta, founder of KISS and KIIT, highlighting his philosophy of “Art of Giving” as a unique model of inclusivity and philanthropy. Professor Varki expressed his admiration for the groundbreaking work being done at KISS, which continues to serve as a beacon of hope for tribal development worldwide.
An interactive session followed the talk, during which faculty members, research scholars, and students engaged with Professor Varki. This left the participants inspired and motivated to explore entrepreneurial solutions for social challenges.
The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Research Scholar, Ms. Priyanka Majhi. The scholar expressed gratitude to Professor Sajeev Varki for his invaluable insights and thanked the Vice Chancellor and the Registrar in their absentia and all dignitaries for their presence and support.
