The School of Tribal Resource Management (STRM) and Centre for Indigenous Innovation Entrepreneurship (CIIE), KISS-DU jointly observed World Entrepreneurship Day on 21st August 2024. This was organized under the banner of Institution Innovation Council (IIC), Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India (GoI). A students’ seminar was organized on the occasion. The event was graced by the students and faculty members of Economics and Commerce Programmes of STRM.
The event began with a very insightful introduction on entrepreneurs and entrepreneurship by Kanhu Bhadra, a student from Economics Programme. Following the presentations on real-life case studies and entrepreneurship-related topics by PG Commerce students. Ramesha Kadraka shared his personal experience highlighting the success and challenges of his father’s farming enterprise. Ramesha, along with Raghunath Kadraka and Rajju Murmu, discussed the schemes introduced by the government that support rural entrepreneurship.
Bhisma Liti and Bijaya Pradhan explored the impact of risk tolerance on entrepreneurial success, while Sumitra Bhatra and Namita Munda highlighted the experiences of tribal women entrepreneurs, showcasing their resilience and innovation. The seminar concluded with the students sharing a self-prepared chart on start-ups, illustrating the key stages of start-up development and the resources available to aspiring entrepreneurs.
The session ended with an interactive Question/Answer segment, where students and faculty members engaged in a lively discussion on the future of entrepreneurship in tribal and rural communities. The event was a resounding success, with students demonstrating a strong interest in entrepreneurship and a commitment to contributing to the growth and sustainability of small enterprises in their communities.
